Pinot noir, saison beers, and special guest Terry Moore



0:00 – 4:00: Introducing radio host Terry Moore, who previously hosted a wine talk program with Rod.

4:00 – 27:40: A winding Pinot Noir discussion eventually leads us a Pick of the Week from guest Terry… Burrowing Owl Pinot Noir 2012, which you can only find in restaurants. Terry gets a second pick of the week (because he’s special) Valdo Prosecco.

27:40 – 29:50: Rod’s turn for Pick of the Week is the Renmano Chardonnay from Australia… in the 2-litre box for $18.

29:50 – 42:58: Beer talk! Rod says saison is a beer to watch. We get the history of this brew and Rod suggests you check out Unibroue’s “La fin du Monde” from Quebec, or the “Saison Dupont” from Belgium. Since everyone else got a Pick of the Week, Ryan tags on Vancouver Island Brewery’s new “Sombrio Citrus Session Ale,” a nice pale ale with some hops and a twist of orange peel.

Bacon, eggs and wine! Plus, BC Election Special Part 1



2:08 – 6:40: Bacon and eggs and wine! Do you have breakfast for dinner sometimes? If so, what wines pair well with it? There are a couple answers, according to Cork Dork Rod Phillips. First off, pick any simple, affordable Chardonnay. Or, if you’re jazzing up your eggs with extra spices or something like sun dried tomatoes, Rod recommends a Rosé. For a red, well, that gets into Rod’s pick of the week…

6:40 – 9:08: Pick of the week! Paul Mas Valmont Rouge from France. It’s a blend of grenache, carignan, syrah and merlot. You should be able to find a 1-litre bottle for $11.79. And, it could also go with breakfast for dinner.

9:08 – 19:56:  We discuss Gehringer Brothers Riesling from the Okanagan Valley.

20:10 – 41:18: The Dork Uncorked BC Election special! Covering the election from a liquor perspective. In this edition, we interview the BC Liberal Party’s John Yap, who has served as the government’s Parliamentary Secretary for Liquor Reform and led recent changes including wine in grocery stories.
